  • How long have you been building custom homes? 
    For over 25 years
     
    Where did you get your degree? 
    Doug received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Oklahoma State University
     
    Do you only build homes or buildings that you have designed? 
    No, if you have a set of plans already, we would be happy to meet with you to discuss the building process using your plans.
     
    What size home or building do you like to design and build? 
    We have worked on a wide range of projects, from 1,500 s.f. to 15,000 s.f.
      
    How many homes or building projects do you build per year? 
    Because of our attention to detail and the time we commit to each owner and their project, we build about five homes or commercial buildings per year.
     
    Are you a green builder? 
    Yes, we are committed to being energy efficient in our construction.
     
    Do you only build in Tulsa? 
    No, we have a wide range of homes and buildings that we have built outside the City of Tulsa. 

    How long will the process take? 
    It depends on the scope of work involved, size of the building and the site considerations. Typically, if the lot conditions are fairly flat, 10 to 12 months.  Of course other factors can play into this time frame (weather conditions, additional outdoor design features, etc.)
  • How accessible will you be during the homebuilding process? 
    Doug meets with the owners on a weekly basis and will be available as much as needed in the busier phases of construction. Our office is in regular contact with the owners through phone conversations and email and our project supervisor is on the jobsite daily.
  • How will you interface with other professionals, such as interior designers and engineers?  
    As the builder of your home or building, we take the lead role on the project, working closely with other professionals, making sure the project time frame stays on schedule and your vision for your project is fulfilled.  Typically, the owner has a separate contract with the other professionals, and we enjoy working with them as part of your team.
  • What type of building contract do you use?
    DWC uses either a cost-plus or a fixed fee contract on our projects. There are pros and cons to both, and we will be happy to discuss which option works best for you.
  • How do your costs compare with other builders in the area?
    Our basic building costs are competitive with all other quality builders in the Tulsa area. Client expectations determine what the final dollar amount may be on a project. These expectations are usually related to items such as material finishes, fixture selections, electronic equipment, more extensive use of landscaping, etc.
